Top 10 Summer Apparel Buys for the Family

Summer is my favorite time because it means beach trips, ice cream, and camping with my family and friends! But this year, I noticed our summer clothes were a mess. My sandals are too small, my shirts have holes from playing too rough, and Dad’s shorts are so old they’re practically ancient. Mom said we needed new stuff but didn’t want to spend a ton, so I asked if I could help pick out clothes. I used our KirbyBuys platform to curate for cool summer apparel from brands like Nordstrom, Columbia, and eBay for all of us, all under $100.

It all started last Saturday when Ethan tripped during a water fight and ripped his favorite dinosaur T-shirt. I was like, “Ethan, your clothes are a disaster!” Then I checked my closet and saw my flip-flops were falling apart, and Mom was complaining about her boring beach dress. Dad just shrugged, but his cargo shorts were so faded they looked gray. With our big camping trip and beach days coming up, I knew we needed a summer glow-up. Browsing from KirbyBuys, I felt like a fashion detective, hunting for stuff that’s comfy, cute, and won’t make Mom stress about money. After some family votes (Ethan wanted everything with sharks), a little help from Mom, and lots of tabs open, I picked these 10 awesome summer buys under $100. They’re perfect for our sunny adventures!
Columbia Men's PFG Freezer Polo Shirt

Dad loves fishing, but his shirts get all sweaty and gross. I found the Columbia Men’s PFG Freezer Polo. It’s super light, keeps sweat away, and has sun protection so Dad doesn’t turn into a lobster. He tried it on, and he looked kinda cool! For $50, it’s perfect for his boat days.
Princess Polly Button Front Linen Blend Maxi Dress

For the beach glow Mom deserves, a dress that’s fancy but not too fussy so I picked the Princess Polly Button Front Linen Blend Maxi Dress from Nordstrom. It’s perfect for hot days, and you can wash it in the machine. Mom wore it to a barbecue, and she looked like a movie star.

Kids' Crocs Classic Clogs

My sandals hurt, and Ethan’s sneakers get soggy at the beach. I found Kids’ Crocs Classic Clogs. They’re waterproof, super comfy, and come in bright colors (I got blue, Ethan got green). We wore them to the lake, and they’re awesome. For about $30 each pair, they’re our summer faves.

Columbia Women's Silver Ridge Lite Short Sleeve Shirt

Mom loves hiking with us, but she gets hot. I chose the Columbia Women’s Silver Ridge Lite Shirt. It’s light, protects from the sun, and dries fast if she sweats. She wore it on a trail, and she said it’s super comfy for our camping trip.

Heron Flat Front Cotton Stretch Twill Chino Shorts

Dad’s old shorts are embarrassing, so I picked Heron Flat Front Cotton Stretch Twill Chino Shorts. They’re stretchy, look nice, and work for barbecues or ice cream runs. Dad said they’re his comfiest shorts ever. At under $100, they make him look less like a grandpa. Hahaha.

Ethan and I often play at beaches building sand castles. Fruit of the Loom Unisex Tee Pack from eBay is what we need. It comes in a pack of 3 soft T-shirt in  with four soft T-shirts. They’re colourful, and they didn’t shrink in the wash after a sandy and sweaty beach day.

Ethan and I play hard, and our shorts rip when we play hours outdoor. I picked Columbia Girls’ Silver Ridge Skorts while Ethan picked Columbia Boys' PFG Backcast II Shorts. They’re tough, come with UV protection and an easy waistband. We wore them camping, and they’re still perfect.

Leopard Band Straw Sun Hat

Mom’s always hiding from the sun, so I chose Leopard Band Straw Sun Hat from eBay for her. Leopard prints never go out of style, and folds up for our beach bag. She wore it to the park, and it didn’t fly off. It's super affordable at less than $18!

Oakley Holbrook Polarized Sunglasses

Dad squints a lot at the beach, so I found Oakley Holbrook Polarized Sunglasses from eBay. They block glare and look cool, like something a surfer would wear. Dad tried them driving, and he loves them. At $94, they’re perfect for sunny days.

Roxy Kids' Outline 2-Piece Rash Guard Set

Ethan and I get sunburned, and I hate sunscreen goo. I picked the Roxy Kids’ Outline Rash Guard Set from Nordstrom. It’s a long-sleeve top and shorts with sun protection. We wore them to the pool, and they’re so comfy. At $44.99 each, they’re our water fight armor.

Helping pick our summer clothes was so fun! They are durable, comfy, awesome, and let us play, hike, and chill without worrying about rips or sunburns. I love that we all got stuff we like, and Mom’s happy we stayed under budget.
